The highest level of wisdom or understanding is the knowledge of the self. When a person patiently stays with the question “Who am I”, he takes a step towards the highest possibility of being a human being and becomes a scientist of the inner world. When a person understands and knows himself very deeply then he attains moksha(salvation).
Describe Wisdom:
It is an ability to attain the right understanding of life and a bundle of knowledge and experiences and practical application of these. The solution-oriented mindset, continuous learning and good judgment are also the parts of wisdom. Sochrates said that wisdom is a practical virtue.
What are the levels of wisdom?
Basically, from the knowledge point of view, there are two levels of wisdom:
1. Knowledge of the materialistic world: This is the knowledge that is stored in a person’s mind through books, past experiences, family environment and society. In other words, this wisdom in a person from the outer world comes from the preconceived notions and beliefs of memory which is limited.
2. Knowledge of the self: This is the knowledge of the real self of any individual which is different from the pre-existing knowledge about the self. This type of wisdom comes from questioning every belief and the self. When you put a question mark on everything, this is the beginning of intelligence. This is the highest form of wisdom. After the self-realization all questions can be answered and all conflicts can be resolved. The Upanishads are seen as a source of self-knowledge in spirituality.
